A Special meeting of BEC Governing Board was held on 29 October 2024. In the meeting Rules of Procedure (RoP) for the BEC being established at Bengaluru have been finalized. Further, website of BEC and BIMSTEC Regional Energy Database have been launched in the meeting. These have been developed as initiative by Mr. Ghanshyam Prasad, Executive Director, BEC.

The website of BEC will serve the following purposes

• Information Dissemination about BEC’s role and functions
• Showcase BEC’s publications, achievements etc.
• Repository of energy sector knowledge and publications relevant for BIMSTEC
• Showcase work of each of the specialized wings of BEC

The BIMSTEC Regional Energy Database has been developed to/for:

• Provide single point, user friendly platform
• Reduce information/data asymmetry
• Promote data transparency and easy access
• Act as information repository and knowledge hub
• Data interpretation with user friendly analytics and reporting
• Quick access of the information related to policy, regulations and codes etc.
• Get comprehensive information about all primary sources of energy
